Ultamate Holiday ~ China Glaze ~ New Year's Mani

Happy New Year All,

I hope 2012 will be a great year for everyone! I went to Ulta the other day to return a Christmas gift and saw 2 lacquers that I didn’t know anything about; China Glaze Ulta Exclusives. There are 3 of them but I only bought 2, the one I didn’t get was a bronze. It was pretty but for some reason I put it back.

The one today is Ultamate Holiday, pretty good name for an Ulta exclusive. It is a bright yellow/gold holographic lacquer. I think this is perfect for New Year's Eve or New Year's Day.

Check it out:

I really think this one is so pretty! It looks so good outside but also it shimmers the rainbow in the inside light or just in the T.V. light! I am wearing 2 coats and 1 coat of top coat. The formula was so nice it went on so smooth and it dried very quickly. I have been wearing it for 2 days and it is wearing very well. I usually have problems with China Glaze chipping on me.
If you want this one, I would run out to Ulta and get it. At my local store they had plenty. What do you think, is it more yellow or gold?

Finger Paints Special Effects

Left to Right  Asylum, Flashy, Flecked, and Motley

Hi,

I heard about the finger paints special effects lacquer about 2 weeks ago and saw that they came out in January. Well, as soon as I heard I ran to my nearest Sally's Beauty Supply because they are famous for having stuff out early and guess what? They had just put it out on the shelf. I have had these for 2 weeks but, with the holidays I just didn't have the time to swatch them right away.

Special Effects come in 5 colors: Asylum, Flashy, Flecked, Motley, and Twisted. They recommend that you apply the Special Effects to their black lacquer- Black Expressionism as the base. I wasn't in the mood to wear black around Christmas time so I chose OPI Russian Navy.

Here it is:

Twisted

Some call Special Effects or this type of lacquer flakies (jelly base with very fine opal particles in it) which are mostly used for layering.

I am wearing 2 coats of OPI Russian Navy and 2 coats of each Finger Paints Effect lacquer. My Favorite is the Twisted. I think these are going to be very hot so, run to Sally’s if you want any of them. What do you think? Do you love it?

Silver Violet ~ CQ

Hey Everybody,

I was getting a little bit tired of all the dark fall/winter colors so I thought I would do a little bit more of a bright color. It’s not too bright though. Silver Violet is a lacquer by CQ. CQ is an inexpensive line that I ran into at Rite-aid that I thought would be fun to try especially since it was like $2.
Silver Violet is a lilac base with silver shimmer in it.

See what you think:

I am wearing 2 coats and 1 coat of top coat. I wore this for 3 days and it didn’t chip and it wore really well, so worthe the $2. I really like it and think it would be good in the spring/summer to wear as a pedi. Have you seen or wore this brand?

Speak For Your-Elf ~ OPI Ulta Deck Your Nails Collection

Happy Friday,
Today I have a lacquer that has been just a pain for me to swatch! I wore Speak For Your-Elf and took pictures but for some reason I was zoning out and not paying attention and I deleted the pictures (DUH). By the time I noticed/realized what I did I was already wearing this mani for 3 days! So I took the pics anyway even though my mani isnt fresh.

Speak For Your-Elf is part of the annual OPI Holiday Collection they put out for Ulta. This year it is called Deck Your Nails and there are 3 in the collection. The last 2 years you would have to buy 2 lacquers and then you could get one of the Ulta exclusive lacquers for free. This year you could just buy them. I like this way better because I have most of the OPI lacquers and can’t really find 2 to purchase and this way I can just buy the ones I want. I only bought 2.

Take a look:

The pics are a little rough but ok. Speak for Your-Elf is a pink/red jelly base with red shimmer. It is really pretty and festive. I am wearing 2 coats and 1 coat of top coat. I like it. Did you get any of these?

Don’t Mess With OPI ~ OPI Texas Collection

Hi Everybody,
Today I have a lacquer from the untrieds! I have been waiting to want to swatch this one and I thought Holiday time would be a good time to do it. Don't Mess With OPI is a creme and the color is to me a kelly green. It looks  pretty in the bottle.

Take a look:

The formula was really thin and watery almost a sorbet but OPI is not calling it one. It streaked a lot when I applied it as you can see in the pictures. I only put on 2 coats and 1 coat of top coat. It wasn’t as shiny as I thought it would be. I think this one is ok but it maybe that I am not a big green fan. What do you think? Am I wrong about it?

Valerie ~ Zoya

Hey Everyone!
I think Valerie is my favorite Zoya Lacquer! This is just gorgeous! Valerie is from the Zoya Flame Collection. It is a deep dark purple/burgundy with red, gold, and a little pink shimmer in it. It is just the perfect lacquer for the fall/winter months because it is so rich.

See:

The formula on this was just so nice and velvety! It just glided on with no problems and it had really good coverage. It dried quickly. I am wearing 2 coats and 1 coat of top coat. It is what I would call a dark sugar plum. What is your favorite fall/winter lacquer? Is it this one?

Orna-Minted ~ Color Club Scent-Suous

Hi All,
This is the last one that I have from the Scent-suous Collection from Color Club, the scented lacquer collection. Orna-Minted is mint, it smells like a breath mint, its good and not overpowering. Orna-Minted has large and small pieces of silver glitter in a clear base. I usually show my glitter lacquers by themselves but, this time I decided to pair it with OPI Wocka Wocka and with OPI Animal-istic.

First up Wocka Wocka and Orna-Minted:

Now Animal-Istic and Orna-Minted:

This lacquer is fun but not too original. I am wearing 1 coat of Orna-Minted and 1 coat of top coat on top of 2 coats of Wocka Wocka and/or Animal-istic. It went on nicely and dried quickly. I like it but it’s not very exciting. Do you have this one or one like it?

Blue Monday ~ Orly Sapphire Silk Precious Collection

Hi Lacquer Lovers!
Blue Monday's lacquer is from Orly's Precious Collection. Sapphire Silk is a creme lacquer, they say this is a teal but its not a teal to me. I see it as a smokey blue, almost a denim blue or a dusty blue.
Here it is:

I am wearing 2 coats and 1 coat of top coat. It went on very smoothly, the formula is great. I like this one but I don't know if I love it. So what do you think, teal?
